Finding balance everyday can be a challenge, we are spinning many plates trying to fit all the things that need to be done into a day, whether it be at juggling family life, work in or out of the home, or both. That balance comes from creating space for our own self care and wellbeing to try and create that space in the week to take time out for our yoga, be it 20 minutes at home or putting time aside to attend a class.
During the coming weeks we are going to explore ways to find balance in our yoga class, this is not really about balancing on one leg, Vrikasana or tree pose, although we will have a little fun trying, and maybe exploring some other balance poses, not necessarily one leg! Our balance starts from the feet and that imbalance in our body starts from here, the foundation from our feet can then affect the posture of the body as a whole, holding tension in a particular area of the body can create that imbalance or niggle in another part of the body.
Did you know that there are 26 bones in each foot along with all the muscles and tendons?
Private classes 1:1 or small classes.
Did you know I also offer private classes or 1:2 class so you could share the cost with a friend. If you a beginner and want a more tailored class to suit your needs, focusing on particular area of yoga. Back to the present time, I am lucky enough to have an apple tree in my garden and gathered lots of apples and making all sorts of apple dishes and chopping and freezing some for another dayt, One of recipies I have made is inspired by an old cook book by Rachel Allan . Apple cake and is an easy way to create a delicious moist cake. I think this works well with any fruit, pears are nice.
Recipe :
Apple Cinnamon Cake
3 medium apples or 2 if bigger.
2 eggs
175g sugar
1/2 tsp Vanilla
125g Plain flour
2 tsp Cinnamon powder
75g butter
75ml Milk
2 1/4 tsp Baking powder
Oven 200c. Turned down to 180c after 10 minutes
Melt the butter with the milk
Whisk the eggs with the sugar with electric whisk until light, about 5 minutes.
Add the melted butter mix to the eggs and sugar and mix together till all incorporated
In a separate bowl add the cinnamon to your flour and baking power
Pour the egg mixture into the flour and fold through carefully until combined.
in a lined 20x20cm lined tin pour in the mixture.
The apples need to be peeled and sliced.
Just scatter these on top of the cake batter. They will sink gradually, don’t worry about this.
Put in the oven at 200c after 10 minutes turn down to 180c the cook for 20-25 minutes. Test with a skewer, it should come out clean.
Leave to cool then enjoy.
