STEP INTO AUTUMN

Every year the nights seem to draw in faster and faster and we feel inclined to hunker down indoors under a cosy blanket with a warm drink and and not want go outdoors.

Our wellbing in the Autumn and Winter is important and supporting a healthy immumne system. One of the ways we can do this is attending yoga classes to help build resiliance and find balance within our day-today challenges.

During in September we are going to bring our focus to the back, neck and shoulders. So much stress and tension is held on to in these areas. If you work at a desk all day it is very easy to hunch over a keyboard or not take time to sit correctly. We will spend some time in each class exploring our posture from the feet right through to the head and looking at some yoga poses that may help you release some tension that we hold onto in those areas of the back, neck and shoulders.

Its not just about coming to your weekly yoga class, we need to bring that balance into to our overall well-being, including the food we eat. While we are all cosied up indoors, after our winter walk its lovely to sit down to so lovely roasted vegetable or a warming soup.

Have you noticed how the colour of the vegetables in season in Autumn and Winter are also the colour of nature around us.

I love to use vegetables in sesason so pumpkins and squash roasted in the oven with a sprinkling of smoked paprika and some dried rosemary and thyme served simply with rice or quinoa maybe a sprinkingling of toasted nuts, seeds or chickpeas. Use your imagination.

Extra veg can simply be turned into a warming soup served with sour dough or rye bread for a hearty lunch or dinner the next day.

I would also love some feedback on my classes

  • what you would like to see more of or less?

  • would a class on a different day or time be preferable?

  • would you like to see more one off classes, ie yoga for the back or a grounding an relaxing restorative class where we spend the class seated or lying down with the support of props, bolsters, blocks, blankets
